Interactive session with Dr P G Diwakar from ISRO, Bengaluru held at SMVITM Bantakal

Udupi, Nov 29: Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management in association with ISTE Student Chapter and IEEE organised an interactive session on “Opportunities in Space Science” by Dr Diwakar P G, ISRO chair professor, National Institute of Advanced Studies, Bengaluru, on November 28 at the college premises, for the benefit of the IEEE and ISTE members students and the faculty of SMVITM.

He initiated his talk by motivating them to dream of their task and work in that direction to achieve in life.

Addressing the students, Dr PG Diwakar gave an overview of research and achievements carried out by ISRO over the past decades in space science. He stated on how each one of us are connected to space in one or the other way through communication satellites placed by ISRO.

He gave an insight into various types of satellites such as communication satellite, earth observation satellite. He explained about the NAVIC satellite system and highlighted its application in terrestrial, aerial and marine navigation, disaster management, integration with mobile phones, ground water identification etc.

He also mentioned the reason behind the successful chandrayan 3 and also mentioned the various startups and job opportunities related to ISRO.

Nidhi Patkar, a third semester student and AIDS department student, compered the programme. The event was coordinated by Shashikala R, ISTE coordinator and Dr Sadananda L, IEEE coordinator of the institute.

Prof Dr Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal, SMVITM, HoDs and faculty members of all the branches of engineering were present during the session.
