Mumbai, Sep 14: Film maker Pankaj Kapur's directorial debut ‘Mausam’ has been called off from the Toronto film festival just a day before the scheduled premiere. Three screenings to be held on Wednesday September 14, Thursday September 15 and Friday September 16  in Toronto as well as a press conference with world media were cancelled at the last minute on Tuesday September 13.

The event organizers of the film festival explained in a statement that they were informed by the studio that the film had not received regulatory approvals in India in time and that’s why the movie could not be screened  in Toronto.

Producer of the movie, Sheetal Talwar said "We ran into a delay getting approvals from the Indian Air Force and the Board of Film Certification in India”.

Shahid Kapoor plays the role of an Indian Air Force pilot from Punjab whose love for a woman from Kashmir (Sonam Kapoor) is thwarted by their differences as he is a Hindu and she is a Muslim in the movie.
