Kundapur, Sep 14: Sepoy Manjunath Kharvi (32), who was returning after undertaking fishing activity off Gangolly shore in the taluk on Monay September 12 night in his small boat, died after his boat capsized due to strong wind. His body was recovered from near manganese wharf in Gangolli. Kharvi is survived by wife and a year-old child.

On Tuesday, a gillnet boat also overturned due to strong wind near Gangolli estuary. All the three fishermen in the boat, who fell into the water and were struggling to stay float, were rescued by adventurous fishermen from other fishing boats, who fought hard in turbulent sea to save them.  These rescued fishermen are from Kerala. Fishing activity remained paralyzed in the taluk because of disturbance at sea.

As most of the boats have returned to shore, the fishing ports are facing shortage of space. Some boats from the ports here also got moored at Karwar and other ports, as they are unable to return to their bases because of inclement weather, fishermen leaders revealed.
