Beltangady, Sep 16: A student of Ujire PU College committed suicide at his home on Thursday September 15. Reportedly, he was feeling slighted and frustrated at the fact that his parents were summoned by the college management.

The student has been identified as Pradeep M D (18), a native of Gundibagilu in Neriya village, and son of Devasya. It is gathered that he was weak in studies and was not attending college properly although he left home on time. Reportedly, Pradeep was counselled by teachers to study harder, and his parents had been asked to come to college for consultation on ways and means to improve the academic performance and attendance of the student. Pradeep’s uncle visited the college, followed by his parents, on Thursday. When his parents were away at the college, the student committed suicide at home by hanging himself.

A case in this connection was registered in the local police station.
