Mangalore, Sep 16: Popular Front of India (PFI) Mangalore, Bantwal, Puttur district committee organised an ‘Eid Milan’ programme at Jamiyathul Falah Community Hall, near Kankanady Mosque on Friday September 16.

M Sharif, president, PFI district committee, welcomed the gathering. A M Athaulla, the keynote speaker on the occasion, said that PFI aims at fighting for the empowerment of minorities in a constitutional way.

"In the current scenario, vested interests have been targeting Muslims and Dalits among other minority communities for no mistake of theirs during communal riots. Karnataka state Beary Sahithya Academy president M B Abdul Rahiman said that though he has difference of opinion with PFI with regard to political stratum, the organization has been extending a helping hand to poor Muslims in the country. "PFI has shown the way to development for Muslims through education," he added.

Shahul Hameed S H, president, Bantwal committee, and Abubakkar Siddik, president, Puttur committee, were present.
