Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Sep 17: Former MLA and Congress leader, Vijay Kumar Shetty, has ridiculed BJP leader, L K Advani’s plans to launch ‘Rath Yatra’ against corruption. “How can Advani, who has not taken any action against corrupt people in his own party, undertake awareness drive against corruption?” he questioned.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday September 16, Shetty said that the BJP, which is the ruling party in Karnataka, has earned the notorious distinction of having the most corrupt government in the country. He said that because of various scams, state Chief Minister, Yeddyurappa was forced to resign, and former ministers, Katta Subrahmanya Naidu and Janardhan Reddy were sent behind bars. He also said that the administrative machinery in Dakshina Kannada district has collapsed, and because of unfilled vacancies in a number of government offices, development works have come to a standstill.

Former city mayor, Shashidhar Hegde, noted that the city corporation itself is suffering from paucity of staff, and that those who are functioning in the office, have not been discharging duties properly. Former deputy mayor, Harinath, claimed that BJP has completely failed in properly managing the affairs of the city corporation.

Party spokesperson, T K Sudhir, district secretary of the party’s backward classes unit, Mohan Mendon, city corporator, Nagendra, and youth Congress district secretary, Denis D’Silva were present.
