Kundapur: 7th Std Girl Student Crushed by Speeding Bus

Kundapur, Sep 21: Suchitra (13), a seventh standard student of Trasi Kallani higher primary school in the taluk, lost her life on Tuesday September 20 evening, after she was knocked down by a speeding bus.

Suchitra was the daughter of Suresh Achar and Prabhavati from Trasi. She was returning home from school on Tuesday evening. When she was crossing the road at Trasi Junction to reach her home, a VRL Volvo bus moving to Mumbai from Mangalore hit her. Suchitra breathed her last on the spot.

The locals said that negligent driving and over-speeding on the part of the bus driver were the causes for the accident. A case was registered in Gangolli police station.

    Very bad news,but its not really a fair judgement to blame the driver for this because a 13 year old girl is really imature to cross the road and parents should have some common sense over this matter and volvo bus having great speed is really impossible to stop at that moment ,bus which should cover 1100km over one night between mangalore and mumbai if taken at speed of 60kmph i think it will take about one and half day to cover the distance .i highlight that parents should have more concern about their kids and public should be aware and not take the side of deseaced but take a fair judgement.lether soul rest in peace and give strenght to her parents.

    Mr. Stan I do have a driving licence and I know the speed limits across various streets.
    The fact is, the bus drivers are reckless and dont adhere to the speed limits at all in Mangalore. Whenever I travel by bus in Mangalore, I pray to the Almighty to reach me home safely.

    THE SPECIFICATION OF A DRIVER IS IN WHATEVER THE SPEED HE GOES IN THE SAME RATIO HE HAS TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. HE LEARNED ONLY TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE NOT TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE.
    MY HEARTFELT SYMPATHIES TO THE PARENTS OF THAT POOR SCHOOL GIRL. MAY HER SOUL REST IN PEACE.

    How can you pass judgements based on newspaper reports.How do you expect an interstate bus to travel at 60kph!
    Please talk something sensible.This is really unfortunate ,but jaywalkers and pedestrains should also be careful when cross the road .The way people cross the roads along NH17 ,its as if its their house or the field ! Even if a bus is at 60kph,anyone coming under its wheels will not survive.Tomorrow you will say ,just because someone was run over by a train ,now the train should go at 20 kph !!

    Bus operators and the public administration should invest in cameras on the roads and in vehicles so that the law is fair in judging people.

    All said and done ,this is a very sad case of a 13 year old losing her life and an irrepairable loss to her family

    Speed upto 100 or 120 km/hour is not a problem. But the problem is Roads should be more wider/broader.

    Stan, if th buses or cars driven at 60 KMPH its safe on NH. But, they drive more than 100 KMPH which unsafe on our NH, as childrens and aged people are walking beside the road or even cross the road. If you have travelled in Express bus mangalore to Kundapura you will understand the situation.

    In Dubai Police used to blame only the driver for anything and used to blame the drivers for overspeeding, but now they will see the case and blame and punish the joywalkers i.e. crossing the road without watching the traffic.
    I think Mr.Ravi from Kuwait don't have driving licence. A 13 year child knows how to cross the busy road. Can any one put emergency brake i.e. volvo which is moving from Mangalore/mumbai i.e. speed at least 60 kmp? Please study the case and blame the defaulter.

    The bus drivers of Mangalore feel they are in the cockpit of a plane while driving their buses. The people of Mangalore should stage rasta roko or pressurise the local authorities to take action against these reckless speeding drivers.
    The lives of young children & csenior citizens will be at risk forever with these maniacs driving around.
    May god give strength to the parents of the girl only one who loses their loved one understands the real pain.
