Chikmagalur: Datta Peetha Repairs to Conclude by November End

Chikmagalur, Oct 6: “The repairs of the damaged Datta Peetha cave at Baba Budan Swami Dargah will be completed by the end of November this year,” informed district in charge, urban development, and law minister, Suresh Kumar. He was speaking after presiding over a meeting held in the office of the deputy commission here on the subject.

“As the collapsed part of the cave is being repaired by using stones, annual maintenance and repairs will not be necessary. The works are progressing well, and will conclude as planned,” he stated.

The minister said that a plan to develop the tourism places around the cave has been envisaged, and that a project with an investment of Rs 12.5 crore with the participation of state and central governments to develop infrastructure at Datta Peetha, Manikyadhara and Galikere has been prepared. He added that this project will be taken up soon, and that PWD will begin road works leading to the cave on October 15.

The contractors, to whom the cave repair work has been entrusted, explained about the progress of work with the help of a presentation.

Local MLA, C T Ravi, deputy commissioner, D K Rangaswamy, distict superintendent of police,, Vikas Kumar, and various officials were present.
