There is nothing wrong if the vehicles get BLESSED on any day.
But the wording of "Pooja" is misleading one.
According to me Blessing need to be done only once when a vehicle is purchased like-Baptism,Communion etc. The blessing doesn't come with the expiry period of 1 year.
So yearly renewal of blessings is not required. Prayers offered to Saints like Christopher every year or every day are not bad.
    Better Sense would prevail-I hope.
I had stopped my fellow businessmen from performing the same acts of Blessing the premises on "Angadi Pooja" day- as starting a new tradition blindly following others is not right. Distribute sweets as a token of appreciation for patronising the business is better than worshiping materials or premises in the place of God(which is wrong).

Please stop practicing ayuda puja, Its the traditional worship of the tools and weapons ! Your vehicles are not your protectors, Its the Lord God who shall protect and bless you. Be faithful to maintain and take care of the vehicles and tools, and do good, Rest God almighty will take care.I am so Sad that my religion is becoming SAGGIGE_BAJIL...oriyede ori asal ! Stop copying others,

Fr. Vincy is known for intercommunity overtures like the one here. I should believe that among the lot of vehicles blessed there were quite a few from non-catholic communities. Someone here trying to decodify Ayudha Pooja saying it is anti-christian but my friend not withstanding the meaning of Ayudha Pooja, one can see here Fr. Vincy blessing the vehicles which are livelihood of people. I can't believe that one can stoop so low to brand the blessing of vehicles as anti-christian when. Well, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Fr. Vincy, don't worry please carry on with your overtures in the future too. Regards Lawrence Saldanha

Dear Mr. Pinto - St. Christopher is venerated by R Catholics and Orthodox Christians as the patron saint of travellers. As per the legend he lived in the third century. His feast being celebrated on 25th of July and the vehicles owners particularly the taxi drivers consider him as their patron.

    Dear Mike
This is a way we can integrate with our neighbors in India. When we can opt for Indian names (Praveen, Prakash, Pinki) and get it accepted in our community we use arathi at the beginning of a service, we tell our brothern from other communities that we are part of a larger society.

Ayudha Puja means worshiping weapons which is against Christian philosophy. They preach do not believe in superstitions but here they practice. This is ridiculous.

    Dear Friends,

I dont understand how can one perform Pooja's in the ChurchYard??? Actually, I feel its wrongly framed.  St. Christopher, is the Saint of "Safe Journey". We always pray to him, while travelling and as vehicles are elements used for commuting, we have them blessed too..."

As all our Hindu friends and neighbours celebrate Ayudha Pooja inviting the Goddess blessing on the instruments(Ayudha) they use to earn thier living, people hiring thier vehicles, such as trucks, auto's, jeeps etc have a pooja conducted on them too.

Therefore, lets reframe the headline and consider it just as a Blessing of Vehicles as an invocation to St. Christopher. Thanks a lot Fr. Vincent for conducting this massive blessing of Vehicles.

s one is fed up with imitating western cultures....
Wow ! here is Record Church Blessings of record Church vehicles….
(I think so blessings of vehicles outside the church members should be encouraged, if somebody desire so….
I know for sure, Fr. Vincent D’ Souza may not object either, who is expert in taking initiatives for intercommunity dialogues)

Nice to observe assimilating of culture, traditions of our own mother country.
