Mangalore: Tulu Academy to Get New Chief

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Oct 9: The tenure of the current president of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, Dr Paltady Ramakrishna Achar, will end on October 10. It is learnt that because of health constraints, Dr Achar has expressed his willingness to step down, although the Chief Minister wants to extend his tenure by another term.

At present, names of Prof A V Navada, Uday Dharmasthala, and Koira Balepuni are making the rounds as likely candidates for the above post. Prof Navada is a retired professor of Hampi University, while Uday Dharmasthala is a member of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy. Koira Balepuni is a retired tahsildar.

As the Academy has presently undertaken important assignments like starting construction of independent building for housing the academy and teaching of Tulu in schools, people who already have the experience of having worked with the academy and have knowledge of its administration will be more suitable for the post, people feel.
