Mangalore, Oct 12: In the CAI South Zone Chess Tournament, organized by King's Academy at Srinivasa Kalyana Mantap, VT Road, here J Malleshwara Rao (Andhra Pradesh), Abdul Majeed (Kerala) and P Satyanarayana (Andhra Pradesh) are in the joint lead with four points each after the fouth round.

Rohan Shandilya (Karnataka), Akash M (Karnataka) and Vanessa D'Souza (Karnataka) are sharing the next positions with 3.5 points each.

Local talents Naman M Shetty, Shreyas Pandith, Swathi B, Yashas Samaga, Reesha Shenoy, Arjun Adappa, A Anutthama and many others are in 3 points giving close fight to the leaders.

In the fourth round, Malleshwara Rao defeated Naman M Shetty, Abdul Majeed Defeated Ramalingam and P Satyanarayana defeated Shreyas Pandith.

In very closely fought game, CAI National women champion and Karnataka's star player Vanessa D'Souza and Piloo Modi Tournament's Joint winner and one of the top CAI player Rohan Shandilya's game witnessed spectacular end game play.

There are still four more rounds to be played.

In total 2 lac rupees prize money, Rs50,000 will be awarded to different age group as cash prize.
