Puttur: St Philomena College hosts AMBIORA 2024 ‘Lakshya’ state level fest

Puttur, May 11: The department of commerce, St Philomena College hosted a state level fest AMBIORA 2024 ‘Lakshya’ with a slogan 'WHERE PASSION MEETS PURPOSE' drawing enthusiastic participation from students across various colleges. The event was inaugurated in the silver jubilee memorial hall of the college on May 9 with a series of competitions aimed at enhancing both academic and professional skills.

The inaugural function was presided over by the principal of the college, Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, who emphasized the value of such events in a student’s life. “Participation in these events not only provides knowledge and experience but also prepares students for success in their future careers. It is an opportunity to strive for excellence, learn, grow, and effect change in the world,” he stated during the opening ceremony.

Bipin Sankadka, a senior analyst at northern trust in Bangalore and the chief guest for the event, encouraged students to seize the opportunity to learn something new every day and develop superior skills. “Each competition is a learning experience, offering new insights and skills that are essential in the modern professional environment,” he noted.

Guest of Honour Dr P S Krishnakumar, the vice principal of the college, spoke about the importance of maximizing potential through such competitive platforms. “Engaging in these competitions, alongside academic pursuits, is integral to achieving lifelong success,” he remarked.

The event saw active participation from teams representing 14 different colleges, competing in various disciplines across multiple venues.

In the closing ceremony Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, who applauded the efforts and spirit of the students involved. He stressed the importance of maintaining a grateful and observant attitude towards life’s subtleties for personal happiness and fulfilment.

Dr Vijaya Kumar Moleyar, vice principal of the college participated as the guest of honour and congratulated all concerned in the organisation and success of the programme.

Vivekananda college emerged as the winner of the team championship, with Sacred Heart College, Madanthyar coming in as the runner-up.

Preetam and team rendered prayer. Tincy Thomas introduced the guests. Premalatha, dean of commerce welcomed. Student coordinator Druoad proposed vote of thanks and Teena Alveea D’Souza compered the programme in the inaugural ceremony. student coordinator Shrutha Rai, welcomed, staff coordinator Dhanya P T, proposed vote of thanks, and Nisha Raghava, hosted the proceedings in the valedictory ceremony.
