M'lore: SJEC Conducts VTU Rest of Bangalore Zone, Inter Zone Throw Ball Tourney

Mangalore, Oct 15: St Joseph's Engineering College, Vamanjoor, here, organized a VTU Rest of Bangalore Zone Women's Throwball Tournament - 2011 recently.

The tournament was inuagurated on October 10 by Mabel Menezes, a National level throw ball player. Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, principal of SJEC presided over the function. Fr Valerian, director of SJEC and Fr Henry Mascarenhas, assistant director of SJEC were the guests of honour.

As many as 17 teams participated in the tournament. Teams like St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor, Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Adyar, PES, Mandya, MITE, Mijar, Canara College of Engineering, Nie I T, Mysore, NMAMIT, Nitte, Srinivas Institute of Technology, UBDT, Davangere, SDM, Dharwad, Sri Devi, Vivekananda College of Engineering, Puttur, MVSIT, Moodabidri, MIT, Mysore, BLED, Bijapur, PA Mangalore and BVB Hubli took part.

Bhavya of MIT, Mysore was awarded the best player of the tournament. Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management were the winners and St Joseph College of Engineering was the runner up in this tournament.

On October 12, VTU Inter zone Women throw ball tournament was inaugurated by Fr Henry Mascarenhas, Dr Rio D’Souza, dean- Academics SJEC presided over the function. Fr Valerian and Dr Joseph Gonsalvis were the guests of honour. Totally eight teams participated in this tournament.

The VTU Rest of Bangalore zone and Inter zone Women throw ball tournament closing ceremony was held on the same day at 4 pm. Joyline of Sahyadri College Engineering and Management was awarded the best player of tournament.
