Mangalore: Mayor Proposes CCTVs in All Corporation Offices

Mangalore, Oct 20: City mayor Pravin informed that closed circuit televisions will be installed in all the offices of the city corporation here, towards bringing transparency to the corporation’s administration as desired by the Chief Minister. He was addressing a press conference here on Wednesday October 19.

“To register the attendance of the employees, computerized biometric technology has been installed in the office. All the departments of the city corporation will be computerized in stages,” he added.

Pravin revealed that the city corporation has recovered 52 percent of house tax dues during the year 2011-12, and that 200 works under Rs 100 crore special grant of the Chief Minister and SFC fund have been completed. Noting that Rs 83.25 crore has already been spent, he said that 121 new works have been proposed to be undertaken under the second phase of the special grant of Rs 100 crore, out of which tenders have been called for 70.

In thee second phase, Rs 25 lac each will be distributed to wards for developing selected roads, he added. “The main road at car street from Kalikamba Junction and Subhasnagar Mangaladevi road will be developed into model roads at an expense of two crore rupees each.

The remaining drainage and footpath works wherever road concreting has been completed, will be completed at cost of Rs 25 crore within the next six months,” he stated. He also revealed about plans to develop Padil Bajal Road at a cost of four rupees, renaming of KPT-Airport Road as Sir M Vishweshwaraya Road after developing it into a model road, and setting up of a temporary bus stand at Pumpwell pending acquisition of the remaining 4.60 acres of land there.

Deputy mayor, Geeta Nayak, corporation commissioner, Dr Harish Kumar, standing committee chairpersons, and corporators were present at the press conference.

    NAMMA METRO chugs off for Bengaluru, What about Namma MONO for mangalore/udipi. This project was proposed/financed by Yeddi as CM that lies only on papers for quite long time now. Since our own CM (DVS)is on hot seat now any progress...?
