Mangalore, Oct 21: The entire coastal Karnataka experienced cloudy weather since morning on Thursday October 20. At night, many places in the region got light drizzle.
In contrast, Kasargod district received heavy rain coupled with lightning and thunder on Thursday morning. Thick clouds, which had gathered over the district, gave way to heavy rain for about 90 minutes since 9 am.
Compared to the coast, rainfall was heavy in Belgaum district on Thursday. A few places in the coast received between one and three cm of rain.
As per the meteorological department’s prediction that is valid till Saturday morning, most regions of the coast and some regions in southern hinterland are expected to receive normal to heavy rains. A few places in northern hinterland are likely to get light rain, the department added.
