Moodbidri, Oct 22: A person named Poovappa Poojary (48), residing at Mayilla in Perabe village near Kadaba, committed suicide on Friday October 21 by hanging himself from the roof beams of his house.

Reportedly, he was frustrated at a deep wound in his leg that refused to heal since long. Poojary initially operated a hotel in Alangar, and later took up work as a machine operator in a laterite stone quarry in Kasargod. While working on the machine there, the machine’s blade had inflicted a wound on his leg. As the injury was serious, he stopped working and returned home about ten months back.

The double blow of not being able to work, and inability to heal the wound, had frustrated him, the family members said. He is survived by wife, two daughters, and a son.

On a complaint filed by the family members, a case was registered in Kadaba police station.
