Mangalore: Coast Experiences Rain with Thunder, Lightning

Mangalore, Oct 24: Most regions in Karnataka coast received good rain coupled with thunder and lightning since late afternoon on Sunday October 23. Some places also experienced strong wind.

Heavy rain was reported from Puttur, Dharmasthala, Kadaba, Karkala, etc. Electricity connections and telephone lines were disrupted because of rain at various places. Because of wind, tiles of a house near Bajpe were blown away. Electric poles and coconut trees fell to the ground at Tarikambla MRPL Road. Sumitra (14) from Kampanada Pade near Biloor in Karkala taluk suffered serious injuries due to lightning. She was admitted to Manipal Hospital. Three other persons sustained minor injuries.

Cloudy weather with possibility of rain or thundershowers has been forecast in the coast during the next two days.
