Kasargod: Iranian Ship Tragedy – Survivors from District Lost Everything

Kasargod, Oct 24: It is learnt that both Mohammed Hanif (37), son of Abdulla Kunhi and Rukiya couple from Uppala Peringadi and Avinash (25), son of Kumar and Shyamala couple from Hosangady Kelaginahittilu Palla in the district, who have survived the ordeal of the sinking of an oil tanker off Iranian coast sometime back, have lost all their documents. This has created multifarious problems for them.

Both of them have lost their passports, visas, clothes, and other documents. They will therefore, be forced to return to their homes empty-handed. It may be recalled that out of 73 crew of the ill-fated tanker which capsized due to strong wind, 60 were rescued, and the fate of other 13 is not yet known. Most of the survivors are from north India, it is learnt.

Both Avinash and Hanif are presently put up in a hotel in Iran. Kumar and Shyamala, who are unmindful of the fact that their son has lost his belongings, have expressed their gratefulness to the deities in which whom they strongly believe, for saving the life of their son.
