Bangalore: Three Held for Circulating Fake Currency Notes


Bangalore, Oct 25 (PTI): Three persons were arrested on charges of circulating fake Indian currency notes, allegedly printed in Pakistan and Bangladesh, in the city, police said here Monday October 24.

Bisrath Sheikh, Saddam Hussain -- both hailing from West Bengal, and Venkatesh -- a resident of Tamil Nadu, were arrested recently and counterfeit notes of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 denomination of face value Rs 22 lakh were recovered from their possession, they said.

During interrogation the duo told police the fake notes were printed in Pakistan and Bangladesh and were being transported into India through Bangladesh.

Police suspect there could be more number of persons involved in the racket and a hunt has been launched for them.
