Bangalore, Oct 27: The Central Investigation Bureau (CBI), which is investigating the illegal mining in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh under the direct supervision of the Supreme court, has opened an exclusive camp office in Bellary in connection with its investigation into the illegal mining cases.

Janardhana Reddy, who was arrested more than a month back, is now lodged in the Chanchalguda Jail in Hyderabad.  The Managing Director of OMC Srinivas has also been arrested. The duo’s applications for bail have been turned down by the CBI Special Court.

The CBI had also raided the offices and residences of the once all-powerful Bellary mining lords and has seized crores of rupees in hard cash besides documents pertaining to illegal assets owned by the Reddys and their associates. The CBI has also raided the residences of Janardhana Reddy’s other brothers, G Karunakara Reddy, G Somashekara Reddy and their associate and former minister B Sriramulu.

The Bellary Camp Office of CBI, according to an official press release, is located at American Guest House, Annexe Building, Behind Lokayukta Office, Opposite Pavan Hotel, Ananthpur Road, in Bellary.

Several Mine owners in Bellary area have with them the agreement copies of 40 percent HAFTA they SIGNED with "REDDYS" under threat or coersion. They are ready to give them to CBI but they are fearing about the consequences in case their names are revealed. Many are 'wait and see type' who would defenitely cooperate with CBI with lots of documentary evidences once the remaining REDDYS AND THEIR CHELAS are also closed inside jail.

Janardhana Reddy implemented some good ideas in his mining company to control inflow of cash. For example: one of his ex-employees who was a cashier for more than a year, at his mining office in Bellary, told me that he and all the other cashiers had to sit on the ground only in their underwear, and daily count thousands upon thousands of 1000 rupee notes, which used to come by van loads, and to tally the amount of this bribe received by Reddy.

And at the of their daily shift, they was still random checking inside their underwears by security guards, and if these cashiers stole any 1000 rupee notes, for which the punishment was severe beatings.

He also said that in Reddy's house in Bellary there are all secret doors and cupboards filled with cash, and even under the entire flooring of the house there is large empty space to hide cash.

i think somebody should make a movie like this on the life of J Reddy.
