Mangalore, Oct 27: German groom Wolfram Wintzer and Aussie bride Jecintha got married at Panambur beach on Thursday October 27 at 5.30 pm in a memorable Hindu ceremony.
The newly married couple, who are archaeologists, believe that Mangalore is a wonderful place with distinctive but nice topography. So, they chose the picturesque beach in Panambur for their special day. Wedding rituals were performed by priests in a small structure built right in front of the beach, with the groom looking stunning in a white ‘kurta’ and traditional ‘peta’ while the bride wore a gorgeous saree.

The duo claimed that their fascination for the Hindu marriage ceremony and their belief that Hindu marriages are ever lasting, prompted them to opt for a similar ceremony.

The parents of the bride were present while Dr Harish Parala and Anjanadevi, scientists in Germany, were present on behalf of the groom. The couple had contacted Yathish Bykampady, CEO, Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project, through Dr Parala. They expressed desire to get married in a unique and memorable manner.

Many locals were invited to this wedding ceremony where ‘samosa’ and ‘jilebi’ also served. Wedding rituals started at 5.30 pm and ended at 7.30 pm. About 80 people were present.

They correctly chose Mangalore. I fully agree with Sunil Dsouza and I am going to say further - Mangalore is the only place in India which is still beautiful and cultured. My only sadness is that with the influx of people, it may go down the tube..

Couple of comments: On a lighter note (please take this as nothing more than harmless humor), don't they look like wax effigies in the first picture. Perhaps the Indian attire is best left to Indians.
The second comment is : Indian couples don't kiss in public during or after the ceremony. If the idea was to get married Indian style, I would advise videshis to desist from kissing

RAM, Mangalore, Why are you assuming they are Christians? Does the report say anywhere that they are Christians? The very fact that they married in Hindu cusoms means that they were not Christians. All westerners are not Christians for that matter.

It is not religion which attracts others towards it. It is the behaviour and attitude of people who follow that religion attracts other people.
In this case surely Dr Harish Parala and Anjanadevi might have attracted these western couple towards hindu culture.

this is not indian culture. this system comes under hinduism rituals only. if this were the indian culture, in the first place each and every other indian faith would have been adopted. it would have been a different issue altogether in case the couples converted to hinduism.

as regards to westerners after achieving all the things in there life..at last they won't found 'peace at mind'..they go on question by themselves..what is life????....they leave all the things behind and go for final destination none other than in india..devout there whole life...following hinduism/buddhism/jainism by adopting new culture!! after all 'hinduism' is mother of all religions!!! it's good to know they are following indian tradition as long as they won't harm it!!

Nice to see the pictures. In india it doesn't matter if person is from Germany, Australia, US or UK. If they are white same treatment you'll get. Some people treat them as god some are like villain. As long as they adopt indian/hindu culture all is well in India.

Wish the couple a happy married life.

It doesnt matter mate! we Indians do everything behind the curtain. They just do it open. It is always better to be open rather doing things from behind. Dont forget India is land of kamasutra as well
