Udupi, Oct 28: Kiran Acharya (24), a resident of Admar near Padubidri in the district, lost his life in an accident involving the motor bike he was driving, and an ambulance. The accident took place in front of a petrol bunk at Yermal Bada near Padubidri at around 11 pm on Wednesday October 26.

Kiran, who completed his BCom degree course through a college in Mulky, is survived by parents and a younger brother. He was unmarried, and used to work for a private company in Mangalore since the last some months. He got critically injured in the accident, and breathed his last on way to Udupi before medical aid to be administered.

The ambulance was carrying the body of a deceased person to Murdeshwar from Mangalore. Kiran was returning after dropping off a guest, who had visited his family to celebrate Deepavali, at Uchila. It is gathered that the ambulance was trying to overtake another vehicle, when it hit the motor bike coming from the opposite direction head on.

In a quirk of fate, it is learnt that the father of the deceased too had got injured in an accident some time back at Muloor near Uchila. He continues to be treated at Manipal Hospital.

After the accident, the mortal remains in the ambulance were carried to Murdeshwar in another vehicle. A complaint of negligent and reckless driving against the driver of the ambulance was registered at Padubidri police station. The policemen have taken up investigation.
