International Level Workshop on 'Research, writing and Publishing in High Impact Journals' held

Mangaluru, Jun 30: Yenepoya Institute of Technology, Research and Development Cell (RDC-YIT) in collaboration with YEN-REFINED, Yenepoya Research Centre for Finance and Entrepreneurship Development, a research centre of The Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce and Management (YIASCM), Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) had organised a three-day international level workshop on “Research, Writing and Publishing in High Impact Journals” from June 27-29 in Balmatta Campus. The workshop is focused on excelling in research and publication, aiming to empower researchers with essential skills for publishing in top-tier journals.

The workshop commenced with an inaugural ceremony on June 27 at 9:30 am. The inaugural session commenced with a prayer led by Jamsheer, faculty of the Department of Commerce, YIASCM. The event began with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries Dr Rekha P D, professor and director, Yenepoya Research Centre, Yenepoya University, Mangaluru as the chief guest, and Dr M Abdul Mujeebu, associate professor, Imam Abdul Rahman, Bin Faisal University, Dammam, Saudi Arabia as the guest of honour. The ceremony was presided over by Dr R G D'Souza Principal Yenepoya Institute of Technology, Moodbidri, Mangaluru alongside other esteemed guests, including Prof Abinas V, faculty & coordinator, Department of AIML Yenepoya Institute of Technology, Moodbidri, Mangaluru and Dr Niyaz Pankaje, associate professor and coordinator of YEN-REFINED, YIASCM. The lighting of the lamp symbolized the enlightenment and quest for knowledge, followed by a welcome address by Dr Santhosh Acharya, professor and HoD, Department of Physics Coordinator-Research & Development Cell, Yenepoya Institute of Technology and introduction of guests by Vani R, assistant professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Yenepoya Institute of Technology.

During the inaugural session, Dr Niyaz Pankaje emphasized the workshop’s significance, highlighting the importance of excelling in research and publication in top-tier journals. The chief guest, Dr Rekha P D, spoke on the critical aspect of writing the research paper efficiently and applications of research in the real world and the need for precise objective that are in line with those goals. The chief guest emphasized the immense potential of human creativity and intellect, highlighting that it surpasses the capabilities of artificial intelligence. She urged researchers to harness their inherent skills and talents rather than over-relying on AI tools for writing research articles. Her insights were rooted in practical experience and exposure, including examples of how AI-generated content can be easily identified by supervisors, potentially leading to the rejection of research papers.

Dr M Abdul Mujeebu, the guest of honour, highlighted the importance of research in academic profession emphasizing the importance of publishing in high-impact journals to advance academic careers. The guest of Hhnour conveyed the necessity for educators in the current academic landscape to distinguish themselves as unique, extraordinary, and exceptional to be fully prepared for the job market. He also instilled confidence in the participants, reassuring them that achieving such excellence is attainable.

Dr R G D’Souza, the principal, in his presidential remarks, motivated the researchers with key word persistence and continuity in research work despite obstacles or challenges along the way. Bazigha, JRF, YEN-REFINED, YIASCM proposed a vote of thanks for the inaugural session and Dr Shakira Irfana, associate professor of YIASCM hosted the session.

The inaugural session seamlessly transitioned into a knowledge acquiring session for the next three days by the resource person Dr M Abdul Mujeebu, who is one among the top 2% of the world’s most cited scientists, providing a comprehensive overview on Research, Writing and Publishing in High Impact Journals. As many as 50 selected participants from various research centres both from National and International candidates had registered. The key takeaways has surely enhanced the capabilities research scholars’  who attended this workshop.
