Chikkamagaluru, Jul 10: In the Charmadi Ghat area of Chikkamagaluru, police took action against a group of youths who were playing dangerously close to a waterfall. The police confiscated the clothes of the youths and this incident occurred amidst the rainy season, when water flows and slippery rocks pose significant risks.

It's a common sight during rainy spells to witness artificial waterfalls forming in the Charmadi hills, enticing tourists to capture scenic selfies from a safe distance. However, some young visitors disregarded safety guidelines and ventured too close to the cascading water, prompting police intervention.

Concerned for their safety, authorities confiscated the clothes of these youths and escorted them away from the risky area. The youths, initially defiant upon realising their clothes were being taken, got engaged in a heated exchange with the officers. Despite the police's efforts to educate them about the dangers involved, their stubborn demeanour persisted.

A phrase in Kannada when loosely translated means "a dog's tail is always crooked" aptly characterises the youths' behaviour, hinting at their reluctance to heed warnings and learn from their mistakes. Despite the return of their clothes and safety advice from the police, it remains uncertain whether the youths grasped the severity of their actions.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of respecting safety precautions, particularly in natural environments where unpredictable conditions can quickly turn risky.
