Mangalore: Youth Convention ‘Yuvothsav’ Held at Divine Call Centre, Mulki

Mangalore, Oct 31: ‘Yuvothsav’, a Diocesan Jubilee Youth Convention was jointly organized by ICYM, YCS and Jesus Youth under the banner of Diocesan Youth Commission on the account of Post Centenary Silver Jubilee of the Diocese in Divine Call Centre, Mulki, here.

Yuvothsav, a four day festival exclusively organized for the youth to invoke in them the desire to experience the grace of the divine providence, saw a huge participation of 620 youth from all over the Mangalore diocese flooding the Divine Call Centre, Mulki, on the first day, with around 150 volunteers assisting them, made it a remarkable event in the history of the youth convention programme ever organized in Mangalore. 

 

It commenced on the Saturday October 29 and is scheduled till Tuesday November 1.

Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu, vicar general of Mangalore graced the occasion for the inauguration. Fr Anil D’souza, secretary of Diocesan Youth Commission and Fr Nelson Pinto, OCD (Spiritual Director Mangalore Charismatic Movement) were present for the occasion.

The vicar general addressed the youth with his powerful message of what is expected of the Christian youth in the present world. Fr Vijay Victor Lobo, Diocesan vocation director, along with Fr Nelson Pinto and Fr Anil D’Souza, celebrated the mass marking the commencement of the programme. The homily was   preached by Fr Nelson Pinto on seeking of God, acknowledge and indentifying oneself which gave an alarming call for  the youth from destroying their life by the worldly pleasures.

The enthusiasm of the participants in the programme was accelerated by the melodious tune of “Holy Strings”- band hailing from Kerala along with Mangalore Youth music ministry. The gathering was addressed by Fr Anil D’souza, youth director. His message to the youth was, ‘Designing oneself for fullness of life – life in Jesus’.

The second day session was conducted by renowned preacher , Fr Roman Pinto, youth director of Shimoga Diocese. Fr Joseph Martis, rector of St Joseph Seminary, Mangalore gave a talk on the role of youth in the parish. Other animators who spoke on the second day were Fr Francis Almeida, Balraj Antony, Prem Machado, Dony Peter Chacko, assistant coordinator of Jesus Youth International and Leo, former president of ICYM central council.

The participants were rejuvenated by the cultural activities like a skit, dance shows, action songs choreographies and melodious music by the music ministry with the assistance of music band – Holy Strings.
