Mangalore: Coast Experiences Sporadic Rain, Lightning

Mangalore, Nov 1: A number of places in the coastal belt received rain coupled with thunder and lightning on Monday October 31 evening. Light rain continued late into the night at places like the city, Bantwal and Suratkal.

Udupi, Puttur, Beltangady, Mulky etc received good rain on Monday evening. Karkala taluk accounted for light rain. Both Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts experienced cloudy weather.

Power shut down was a common phenomenon at most places on account of lightning. Mescom officials said that cable on Kavoor-Mannagudde had got severed, and technical fault was also experienced at Bykampady. Power supply got severed in places like Derebail and surroudnig areas since Monday morning.

The meteorological department has predicted rain at most of the places in the coast. In its predictions valid till Wednesday morning, it expects normal to heavy rain in a few places in southern interior Karnataka.
