Kasargod: Thieves Steal 28 Sovereigns of Gold Ornaments

Kasargod, Nov 1: Thieves entered the home of B M Shivaram, divisional engineer of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd, in the town during the day and decamped with booty of about 28 sovereigns of gold ornaments. The house they targeted is located near the cashew nut factory at Talipadpu here.

The incident occurred between morning and 1.30 pm on Sunday. Both Shivaram and his wife, Leelavati, had visited a hospital in the morning to take care of their daughter, who has been admitted into the maternity ward of the hospital. They realized that their house was burgled, after they came back at 1.30 pm.

Thieves entered their home by breaking open the rear door of the house. They then broke the cupboards and took away gold ornaments. The value of the stolen ornaments has been estimated at Rs 5.6 lac.

City circle inspector of police, Babu Peringot, sub-inspector, T Vijayan, finger print experts etc visited the spot and undertook investigation.
