Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (PS)

Mangalore, Nov 1: Five of the six accused in the 2009 murder case of Chetan Shetty of Poornesh Stores at Kudpady, Jeppu here have been acquitted.

The verdict was passed by judge R M Shettar of the Dakshina Kannada first sessions court.

The acquitted are Mustafa, Hameed Sarfaan, Mohammed Azharuddin, Althaf and Mohammed Ashraf, all in their twenties and early thirties.

The other accused has been absconding ever since the murder took place in 2009, and even now police have been unable to trace him.

It may be recalled that Chetan Shetty was brutally assaulted with lethal weapons by a group of miscreants on May 28 night near Marnamikatte Junction.

The grievously wounded Chethan succumbed to injuries at KMC hospital on May 29 at 4 am. Mangalore South police station had registered a case in this regard.

The police arrested the accused a month or so later, and three of them were given bail.

The judge gave a clean to the five in all charges levelled against them. The other accused, Mohammed Farooq will still face the charges. He is said to have been taking refuge abroad.

Ek baat hamesha yaad rakho ke taali do haathon se hi bajti hai...
When something wrong happens its not fair to blame an entire community....Nice imagination but We are too equally Indians as you are...

    Prevention is better than cure.

Cheap things are rarely good and good things are rarely cheap.

6.50 lacs, is it hard earned money. If it is Yes, Mr. Achar would have consulted a goldsmith. Would not have bought 900 gms gold as one stretch.

This is travesty of Justice. How can the judgement be prounced without cross examination of accused? Victims relatives should file an appeal against this aquittal. May his soul rest in peace.

Its a shame. What is the basis for their acquittal? Justice has to be done, no matter even if it is delayed. The guilty should not go scot free. Otherwise we will have more Dawoods and Rajans in India in the future.

Nobody should be blamed for this verdict except police, who, failed to implicate murders with substance and court will only proceed referring materials placed before it.However conviction rate in India is very less relatively when we look at other countries, particularly M.E.Countries.Having been said, nobody will escape from the court of God.Punishment in life or after death would be deliverd with out fail.

The verdict is very unfortunate and killers are qcquitted... it only happens in our country... But killers of any human beings, be it muslim, christian, hindu, sikh, dalit etc can be forgiven by God and one day everyone has to face God and shall be held responsible...This life is short and easily people can do away with their crimes, but hereafter is never ending and only good souls shall be blessed and bad one shall be punished...so be good to self, be good to others, be good to neighbours, be good to society, be good to wife and children, be good to parents...life is too short my friends..

Which effectively means that in Mangalore you can do what you want to do and still go scot free. Great News.
