Kundapur: Police Complaint Alleges Death Due to Doctors’ Negligence

Kundapur, Nov 4: A complaint filed by a person has accused the doctors of a nursing home in the town of causing the death of his sister due to their negligence. The complaint relates to the recent death of a puerperal woman, Shashikala (27) from Ragihaklu in Herur village of the taluk.

In the complaint, Santosh Naik says that his sister, who started having labour pain, had been admitted into a nursing home in Voderhobli in the town. Shashikala gave birth to a male child on October 28. She became unconscious on October 29, after which she was admitted into a private hospital in Manipal for advanced treatment. She did not properly respond to treatments there, and breathed her last on November 2.

Naik, in his complaint, has held the negligence of doctors at the nursing home in Kundapur of being directly responsible for his sister’s death. The complaint was registered in the local police station, and investigation has been initiated.
