Bangalore, Nov 4: Karnataka Governor, Hansraj Bhardwaj, clarified on the sidelines of a private function in the city on Thursday November 3, that he has not yet rejected the name of Justice Bannurmath, recommended by the state government to the post of Lokayukta.
Clarifying his stand on the issue in the backdrop of certain media reports, Bhardwaj said that the said recommendation is still under consideration, and that a final decision has not yet been taken. “I have held discussions with the Chief Minister on the issue. I have not rejected the recommendation. There is a need to thoroughly go through all the relevant materials before appointing a person, as the Lokayukta should be a person of high integrity, besides being able and eligible,” he said.
When his reaction was sought to adverse comments made by state BJP president, K S Eshwarpapa, about him, the Governor said that he does not feel the need to give response to statements made by irrelevant persons.
