Kasargod, Nov 5: Circle inspector of Hosdurg police station in the district, K V Venugopal, arrested Saifuddin (22) from Bekal Haddad, relating to an incident in which a tenth standard student was abducted and raped. The incident occurred near Hosdurg.

Reportedly, Saifuddin made the student stated above to believe that he was deeply in love with her. He then succeeded in convincing her to come to Thiruvananthapuram with him. It is said that he took her to a lodge, and raped her there.

The girl had gone missing since October 28. After a complaint was filed by her family members, the policemen began investigation, and got information that she was with Saifuddin at Thiruvananthapuram. They went there and took both into custody. They then subjected the girl to medical examination, which confirmed that she had been raped.

The Hosdurg second JMFC court remanded the accused to two weeks judicial custody.
