Moodbidri, Nov 5: A person succeeded in convincing a woman that he was known to her, and then fleeing with a gold ornament she was wearing around her neck. Andrei (65), a resident of Bavadabettu in Todar village, lost her ornament in this fashion.

In a complaint filed in the local police station, Andrei said that she was waiting for a bus at the local bus stand to go to a relative’s home, when a man in his forties approached her. He exchanged pleasantries with her, and acted as if he knew her since many years. He then claimed that he wanted to get a chain of the design she was wearing, made for his sister. He asked Andrei to hand over the chain to him, for being shown to his elder brother for approval.

As the man did not return even after a long wait, the woman developed suspicion. The ‘Kottambari Sara’ she lost was said to be weighing 30 grams. The policemen have begun investigation.
