Mangalore: CBSE School Principals Meet to Discuss CCE Scheme


Mangalore, Nov 6: Principals of schools affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) met at the Presidency School here on Saturday November 5 to discuss the proposed Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) system by the union minister for Human Resource Development Kapil Sibal.

The meeting was organized under the newly formed forum, Karavali Sahodaya Schools Complex (KSSC) which intends to bring the CBSE schools together in promoting the cause of primary and secondary education.

Presiding over the session chairman of KSSC and principal of Little Rock English School, Brahmavar highlighted the salient aspects of the CCE scheme and mentioned that it was high on the agenda of CBSE as it would exponentially enhance the quality of education provided in the primary and secondary levels.

He also made a presentation on Monitoring and Mentoring of CCE.

The meeting was a platform for sharing best practices incorporated in respective schools. It was also resolved that a series of workshops would be conducted on CCE inviting eminent personalities in the education sector.

The resource persons at the meeting were principals of different schools who made their presentations on the subject include Abhilasha from SMS, Brahmavar, and Kusum from Madhava Kripa, Manipal, and Neetha Kishore from Dr NSAM, Nitte and Geetha Venkatraman from Dr Ramanna Shetty School, Thokur.

The focal issues discussed at the meeting include Formative assessment- as Pedagogy, Importance of CCA as apart of the formative assessment, Recording of the Co-Scholastic areas grades & observations and how effectively a teacher can use the different tools and techniques in formative assessment respectively.

The host Presidency School Principal Kailash Pawar welcomed the gathering and Shreelatha Rao, Principal of BGS Education Centre proposed the vote of thanks. Principals of 31 CBSE schools from the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi participated in the meeting.
