Anjuna, Aug 30: A tragic incident occurred in Anjuna where a 7-year-old boy, Prabhas Kalangutkar, was fatally mauled by a pit bull dog on Thursday evening. The boy, who had accompanied his mother to a neighboring house where she worked, was attacked by the unattended dog around 5 p.m. The pit bull inflicted severe injuries on his hand, neck, and cheek.
Prabhas was immediately rushed to the North Goa District Hospital in Mapusa and later transferred to Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with calls for stricter regulations on dangerous dog breeds. The community is particularly distressed as this pit bull had previously attacked another child. The boy's father, Premanand Kalangutkar, confirmed that the dog's owner had warned Prabhas's mother about the dog's aggressive behavior, but the animal was still left unattended at the time of the attack.
This tragedy has reignited concerns over the safety of aggressive dog breeds, following similar incidents in the state.
