Bangalore, Nov 17: Porn spammers who have been giving tough time to millions of Facebook users as well as to the Facebook technical team have reportedly been tracked and identified. Sources said on Thursday November 17 that Facebook is contemplating legal action against the violaters.
Nevertheless, for the hackers it was a biggest achievement as it created sensational news all over the world, not only on the net but in all forms of media. The entire vitual world was thrown into chaos.
On Tuesday, lacs of Facebook users logged on to their accounts, only to find their profile pictures morphed and links directing to porn websites. At least five lac users in India were affected due to this hacking fiasco.
Reports said, in Bangalore alone at least two lac users were affected, and several of them closed their Facebook accounts permanently due to embarrassment.
On Tuesday, objectionable materials like porn images of extreme violence and fake celeb photos in different sexual acts were found in the profiles of many users.
Facebook feared that several thousands of their 800 millions users would back out from Facebook, either opt for other social networking sites or permanently stop socialising online.
"Facebook must take tough action against this, as this could create huge negative impact on young users who usually are the primary users of this popular social networking site," said a senior technology consultant, expressing fears that social networking trend may be lost in India.
"Facebook needs to get this under control, because the content is too offensive," he said.
Reacting to the outrage throughout the virtual world, Facebook management quickly issued a statement saying, "Protecting people who use Facebook from spam and malicious content is top priority for us."
"We have tracked and identified the hackers group who was behind this chaos. We have managed to rectify this issue within 24 hours after it was reported," said Facebook official.
