Mangalore: Pick-up Truck on Reverse Crushes Baby

Mangalore, Nov 19: A six-month-old male baby died after a pick-up truck moved over it on Friday November 18. The incident occurred at Melina Talapady near here.

Reportedly, the child belonged to Rama and Vijayamma couple from Andhra Pradesh, both of whom work for the contractors of national highway widening work. They had laid their child on the floor near their place of work.

The driver of the pick-up truck, it is said, did not notice that a child was sleeping on the floor behind the vehicle. He moved the vehicle behind, after which one of its its wheels moved over the head of the sleeping baby, killing it instantly. Although the child was rushed to a hospital immediately, the doctors declared it brought dead.

A case of negligent driving was registered in Ullal police station.
