Kasargod: Two Held for Discharging Poultry Refuse into Rivulet

Kasargod, Nov 24: The locals caught hold of two persons, when they were dumping poultry refuse into Mayippady rivulet near here, on Wednesday November 23. Many poultry and slaughterhouse have cultivated the habit of emptying their waste products into the river, to avoid the need to scientifically dispose them off. After complaints about contaminated water, stink, worms developing in water, health threat etc created out of this practice emanated some years back, they used to dump waste clandestinely into the rivulet at night to avoid public glare.

The High Court has also barred discharge of waste in roads, public places and water resources. The above two, identified as U A Khaleel (28) and U A Sawad (21), both from S P Nagar, Uliyattadka, were handed over to the police later. The auto rickshaw they used to bring the waste was also confiscated.

The policemen of Vidyanagar station, who took into custody the above two persons, said that they will register criminal cases against them in tune with the High Court orders.
