Bantwal, Nov 28: A slab has collapsed from the railway overbridge on the road below at the busy B C Road which lies on the Mangalore–Bangalore national highway 75.

Although the slab had collapsed on the road three days ago, the concerned department officials did not bother to undertake swift repairs.

Incidents of loosened slabs falling are occurring often and pedestrians risk their life while walking on the road. The bridge has no lighting facility and this poses a threat to pedestrians and cattle during the night.  The locals have urged the concerned department officials to take remedial steps before there are any casualties.

The slab had partially collapsed more than a month ago. This was quite conspicuous. However the officials, as per their normal practice, turned a blind eye. Sad state of affairs...!
