Karkala: Man Trying to Sell Leopard Pelt Arrested

Karkala, Nov 29: The personnel of special police forest mobile squad arrested a person from Muniyal in the taluk on Monday November 28, and seized a leopard pelt from his possession. The accused has been identified as Guruprasad (32).

The squad, with its headquarters at Mangalore, and headed by Manjunath K R, were tipped off by reliable sources about the arrival of the accused at Muniyal from Kabbinale village for selling of the pelt. The squad arrested the man from near Kaduhole Bridge near Muniyal, when he was bringing the pelt for sale to prospective buyers.

The accused as well as the pelt were handed over along with a report thereof,  to Hebri police station for further investigation. Hebri police sub-inspector, Santosh Shetty, took over investigation. A case under Wildlife Protection Act was registered in Hebrii police station against the accused.
