Mangalore, Nov 30: Karnataka State Backward Classes Awareness Forum has blamed the clergy of masterminding the drama of placing a ban on the ‘Made Made Snana’ ritual at Lord Subrahmanyeshwara Temple in Subrahmanya to hoodwink the protestors, and then resuming the practice at the last minute as per previous plans. They have called for a huge meeting to condemn this move, at Mysore on December 4.  The Vedike has also challenged Vidyaprasannateertha Swamiji of Subrahmanya to participate in the ritual of Made Made Snana. In a statement, state president of the Vedike, K Shivaramu, addressing a press conference on Tuesday, urged for bringing a halt to this inhuman and superstitious ritual being undertaken at a place located in the Chief Minister’s home constituency.

“The Pejavar Swamiji, who tours residential pockets of the Dalits, should make his opinion known about this practice. If he fails to do so, we will wave black flags during his next visit to Mysore,” the Vedike warned. It said that a huge protest will be organized at Subrahmanya the next year, if this practice is allowed to be continued, and that the district administration and government will be answerable to the adverse outcome of such a step. District president of Bangalore unit of the Vedike, Dr D Vijayakumar, also demanded to put an end to the practice of differentiating between different communities while serving food in Subrahmanya temple, which he said is the root cause of the problem.

On Tuesday, about 3,500 devotees took part in Made Made Snana ritual at Subrahmanya. While some media persons said that media persons shooting the ritual were obstructed by the temple staff, temple executive officer, Sundar Bhat, dismissed the allegations and said nothing of the sort had happened.
