Belthangady, Dec 1: Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra, Vimukti Laila organized an HIV/AIDS awareness rally on Wednesday November 30 at Venur.
President of Gram Panchayat Dejjappa Shetty flagged off the rally from Mahalingeshwara temple to Venur circle in the morning.
Later on a special AIDS awareness programme was held, where in chief guest Seema Mathias urged all to love and care HIV affected people. She said that HIV positive people also can live a normal life with their family and community.
She further said that the community and the society needs to be educated about HIV/AIDS to ensure that those affected can lead a normal life and that is the reason for having more an more women in the rally, she said.
Director of Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra Vimukti Laila Fr Vinod Mascarenhas in his presidential address said that we need to be aware of the present situation of the society as a huge number of young people are affected by HIV/ AIDS, hence the need of the hour is to be tested every now and then. He said there is need to instruct people especially the young girls that they do not fall to the trap of the dreadful people.
Other resource persons present at the programme also shared their views and messages to fight against HIV.
Staff of the Vimukti performed vigilant awareness songs and Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM), Venur presented a Street play on HIV/AIDS at the end of the programme.
A lot of people including SHG members ITI students and Auto drivers from Venur participated in the rally.
Dr Arun Kumar of Primary Health center, Venur, principal of SDM ITI Training, Venur Sadanandha Poojary, and Dr Shanthi Prasad of Namana Clinic Venur among others were present.
Vinitha welcomed the guests and Sumangala proposed vote of thanks.
