Mangalore: Mandd Sobhann Celebrates Silver Jubilee - Pics

Mangalore, Dec 1: Mandd Sobhann, a city-based premier cultural organization working for the welfare and development of Konkani, celebrated its silver jubilee upon completion of 25 glorious years of service to the cause of Konkani, with a simple programme organized at Kalaangan at Shaktinagar here, on Wednesday November 30.

Gurkar of Mandd Sobhann, Eric Ozario, president, Stany Alvaris, immediate past president, Louis J Pinto, Fr John Fernandes, Roy Castelino, Pascal Pinto Kuwait, Eric Correa, and director of Four Winds advertising firm, E Fernandes, were present at the dais.

Fr Pratap Nayak of Thomas Stephen’s Konkani Kendra, Goa, extended best wishes to Mandd Sobhann on this historic occasion. Acknowledging meritorious service rendered by Mandd Sobhann during the last 25 years to the cause of Konkani language and culture, he wished that the organization will continue to contribute further towards taking Konkani to still greater heights. He congratulated various office bearers and governing councils which led the organization all these years towards glory.

The chief guests at the dais also pulled a shawl that was placed in a Gumat, a traditional percussion instrument used for Konkani folk songs. The starting portion of the shawl was in silver colour, which gave way to golden colour as it was pulled further, signifying that Mandd Sobhann  has been moving towards golden era from the silver one.
