Shimoga, Dec 2: A teacher named Jayaprakash (42), who was hurt during Pratibha Karanji programme for students at Balebail near Teerthahalli in the district, after a fight broke out between him and another teacher over flimsy issues on Wednesday breathed his last on Thursday December 1.

Jayaprakash was a teacher of government lower primary school in Balebail. Santosh, a teacher of Sahyadri School, who also was participating in the programme, developed some misunderstanding with Jayaprakash. After exchanging heated words initially, the teachers came to blows, during which Santosh is learnt to have pushed Jayaprakash.

Jayaprakash, who suffered serious injuries in the incident, was rushed to Manipal Hospital, where he died on Thursday. A case in this connection was registered in Teerthahalli police station. Consequently, the Pratibha Karanji programme that was slated to be held at Teerthalalli on Thursday was cancelled.

Jayaprakash is survived by wife, a son, and a daughter.
