Mangalore, Dec 2: During the continued hearing into cases against alleged serial killer, Mohan Kumar alias Cyanide Mohan, it transpired that Mohan had once been arrested on December 8, 2005, in an eve teasing case. This information was provided by Timma Shetty, the then sub inspector of Venoor police station, during hearing on Thursday December 1.

At present, the court is hearing the case relating to the alleged murder of Leelavati from Vamadapadavu within Venoor police station limits.  Timma Shetty also said that Babu Maistry, father of Leelavati, had visited the police station on September 9, 2005, to file a missing complaint about his daughter.

He said that Mohan, who initially introduced himself as Bhaskar Vittal, had later revealed his actual name. “During interrogation, he said he was facing a case of robbing jewellery of a girl after taking her to Mangalore and making her unconscious. I however, did not check as to which police station this case related to. He had also talked about a case he faces in Beltangady station relating to attempt to rob ornaments of a girl after trying to murder her by pushing into a pond. We contacted Beltangady station, and released him after producing in the court of the taluk magistrate,” he claimed. 

Mohan, during cross examination, questioned Timma Shtty as to whether Leelavati’s father had provided particulars of ornaments she wore when she went missing. Shetty answered in the negative. He also posed a couple of more questions to the sub-inspector, who provided proper answers.
