Mangalore, Dec 4: “The BJP-led state government has proved that it is not against the Christian community by appointing the State Christian Parishat, whose role will be crucial in the development of the rural poor of the state’s Christian community,” stated Franklin Monteiro, vice-president, state BJP Minority Morcha and member of Christian Development Parishat.

Speaking to media persons on Saturday December 3, he thanked chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda for the appointment of the Parishat as it will help fulfill the demands of underdeveloped Christian families.

“The state government has reserved Rs 50 crore of which Rs 20 crore has already been sanctioned for ommunity programmes,” added Monteiro.

Monteiro requested Christians to keep aside their differences and urged them to borrow government facilities and support the ruling administration. He declared that there will be no corruption and malpractice in this Parishat during his tenure.

Monteiro also thanked the state government for withdrawing the 23 cases filed during the Christian attacks in 2008.

“The Christian Development Parishat will help poor students, renovation of old prayer halls, financial support for new buildings, construction of orphanages and old age homes, assistance in medical treatment for the poor, financial support to the community’s talents in sports, as well as other programmes will be implemented in coming days,” said Monteiro briefing about the manifesto.

Deputy speaker and MLA Yogish Bhatt, district BJP president Padmanabh Kottari, general secretary Sanjeev Bhat, district BJP Minority Morcha vice-president Ashok Boliyar, and Sulochan Bhat were also present at the press meet.
