Mangalore: Milk Prices Hike Likely by Three Rupees a Litre

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Dec 7: Different milk producers unions across the state have approached Karnataka Milk Federation, with a demand to hike milk prices. The demand is in tune with the rising cost of production, and the prices of milk prevalent in neighbouring states.

At present, different qualities of milk is being marketed by KMF at prices ranging from Rs 22 to 26. If the above demand is considered favourably, the new milk prices will be between Rs 25 and 30.

KMF is also considering upward revision in the prices of milk, in view of increased cost of producing plastic sachets, maintenance cost of freezer units, rise in cost of fuel, etc.

I went to a Church managed Primary School, of which, a Hindu was a very respected Head Master. Mid-Day-Meal was introduced in our school and we were made to say a Shloka before we started to eat and it went like this : "Asato Ma Sadgamaya, Tamaso Ma jyotirgamaya, Mrituo Ma Amritam Gamaya" We were told its meaning but I was not aware its origin until a Daiji reader mentioned that shloka here. Well, discovering its origin did not make me any resentful but proud of our teachers and authorities who gave such an unbiased atmosphere. I have a feeling that scriptures give wisdom no matter of which religion they are. Only certain elements manipulate, misuse them and people like you limit them. Believe me or not, Bhagavatgeeta, Ramayana or Mahabharata is taught, I am sure students are intelligent enough to emulate wisdom from them. Nobody need to force them upon learners.

    Dear Mr. Dinesh Poojary, Kundapura/Bengaluru,
Cows are not like Humans. Let the COWS LIVE HAPPILY LIKE ANIMALS. Thou shall not kill a human. No human consumes human meat dead or live. Dead human body is for burial. Nobody slaughters dead body for consuming meat. Permitted are only cow slaughter houses for its meat is eligible for human consumption.
I think your view is negative.
Government should reconsider its decision to remove permits for cow slaughters and regularize cow slaughters like, the chicken, sheep, pig where there is no permits necessary for slaughtering so that meat prices will come down and affordable to every human in the market .
I asked you one convicted case of a forcible conversion.

    8) What the Govt will do if the employer is not paying the wages/cooli because he is a big man nobody can question him?
    9) Don’t we have sufficient laws to prevent all these things? Of course we have. Yesterday in Punjab a Surpunch slapped a lady in front of all for asking job regularization protest. Why the police have not filed the case so far?
    10) If the Govt officials are not filing the case/taking the case will you blame the Govt?

They may get pure fresh cow milk in their home. Apart from the milk the cow dung can be used to fertilize the soil and let them cultivate vegetables . So double benefit.. FDI will destroy the local retail market similar to what The LULU hyper markets, Choithram, KMT , spinneyes, lals etc.. did to the small groceries owners in Gulf countries. Many of the small groceries are shut down and the owners and their dependents are struggling survive. Increasing the MILK price may benefit our local farmers to improve their standard. The brainless congress must be kicked out of power as soon as possible.

The private fuel companies decide on fuel price hike and force Govt of India to implement. These private companies have their own profit margin. It should be directly brought under Govt of India.

If Kirani stores, wine shops are cheating then it is because we do not have proper system in place. Auto drivers also cheat public.. Will you bring FDI for transport? Bus conducts also cheat by not giving change. Will you bring FDI for that? Police also cheats, all government officials cheats. After all our government itself cheats us. What is your say on that?

If they are not paying tax, then it is the problem with govt of India and finance ministry. It means income tax dept does not have proper system to measure the income of a person. They have to blame themselves for that. Bring a strict law.. everyone will pay tax. FDI is not a solution for everything..

The foreign retail stores might pay tax properly but they may bribe our ministers and increase the commodity price giving N number of reasons...

Earlier in our villages in Manglaore we used to find in every house or in most of the houses cattle, but now you hardly find any.Everyone wants to live easy life, either wants to spend money accumulated by parents or wants to spend money send by children.Buying power is increased than the producing power.Increase in milk price is the simple example of it.If you have a will to dirty your hands, the price increase in any household commodity will not bother you at all.

I don't know whether price increase in milk is really due to production cost or something else. But for a common man it is a big burden/dent in their already drained pocket.Without any other options common people(Aam Aadmi)have to accept/welcome the decision of the manufacturers with heavy heart.I do agree with Mr.Dinesh Poojari-Kundapura,B'lore about his opinion about FDI on retail business.Because once the retail companies creep in, there is no bargain on price as such.In the name of brand they butcher the customer like anything which no customer realizes.See for example if you visit any malls in the city, price exhibited by them for all the items including food items(Except few items) is high as compared to outside retailers.Only advantage is you can grab the stuffs under one roof.Prices of rice, vegetables, fruits and other stuffs are already high in Big-Bazaar, Mega-mart, D-mart, Food World etc.Besides they charge even for plastic carry bags.As Mr.Poojari rightly said if FDI is allowed, will those companies give employment to educated and uneducated person? No that is reserved only for elite class. This is just the ploy of the government to fool the public(Aam Aadmi)Beware!!!!!

I am against FDI on retail business. The way private companies take decision on hiking petrol price now, same thing will happen for grocery items too.

At present onion price goes up only when there is a less supply of onions to market and comes down soon the supply increases. But retail companies like Wall-mart, Tesco, Target may not reduce the price even if there is a scope to do.

You can already see - prices of rice, vegetables, fruits and other stuffs are already high in Big-Bazaar, Mega-mart, D-mart, Food World etc. They sell milk with extra 1 rupee by giving you an attractive plastic cover. They have to maintain their profit margins including expenses on AC, power backup, employees salary etc.

Govt is bluffing people saying it will generate Lakhs of employment opportunities to people. Currently any one with no education also can start retail business in India. No restrictions on anybody to start provisional stores. If FDI is allowed, will those companies give employment to uneducated person? Where he and his family will go now?

FDI is no way good for India. We have to fight against FDI.

Who told you that present Indian retailers benefit farmers either ? Moreover, why do you think Susma Swaraj, after talk with the Finance Minster, budged to postpone FDI issue than totally blocking it ?

Have you seen the retailers sharing the profit, they earn by inflating sugar price at Diwali, with the farmers ? Similarly, the Jasmine retailers sharing the high prices they earn during marriage season with jasmine growers ? Though one bundle is sold for Rs. 450/- the producer gets just Rs. 100/- can you believe it ?

Similarly, do not you think that farmers will gain out of this raise in milk prices. It all goes to the pocket of retailers.

I can live without car/petrol but not without milk. I wonder if you run your car with milk since you compare them both price-wise !

    NN,

Why Susma Swaraj agreed to postpone FDI proposal instead of blocking it totally after recent talks ? You think the politicians are there for your benefit ?

How can you say that the retailers who oppose this are doing any charity for you or the farmers ? Have you seen them giving the share of inflated sugar price they charge during Diwali to farmers ? Or, the jasmine price of peak marriage season is of any benefit to jasmine growers ?

It applies to all commodity, the farmer gets just the price that is available at the time to selling. The same applies to milk and milk producers - their income will remain same. I can live without a petrol/car but can I without milk ? As per your dreams and prediction UPA will not be there after next general elections then why not make your path safe and invite foreign companies if your claim is that the government gains out of FDI ? You will be the one who will benefit won't you ?

    Francis, Moodbidri/Dubai,

HOPE YOU ARE UNEDUCATED & AFTER WORKING IN DUBAI ALSO YOU FAILED TO UNDERSTAND WHICH IS LAVISHNESS.

PETROL IS ESSENTIAL & NOT A LAVISHNESS.

    LAVISHNESS ARE :

    1. YOUR YUVARAJA TRAVELLING IN A CHARTERED FLIGHTS TO ATTEND A MARRIAGES, TO WITHDRAW MONEY FROM ATM ETCCC.

    2. STAYING IN 7 STAR HOTLES.

    3. TRAVELLING IN LUXURY CARS.

    4. STAYING IN POSH BUNGALOWS.

    5. EATING COSTILIEST FOOD & DRINKING @ EXHORBITANT PRICES.

    JAI HO .

Nageshji the same resistance as now in FDI was offered when India was getting computerised......giving hypothetical reasons. Now the end result is in front of you!! Dont think kirana shop owners and farmers are innocent or poor. They get the maximum benefits from the govt. schemes and dont pay single paisa IT!!

Three Rs in one shot is a big hike which is unacceptable.

Nageshji where are farmers left now who are into dairy business? All farmers are busy cultivating more lucrative arecanut for Gutkha and rubber in place of vegetables and paddy!! They are richer than you and me by getting all sorts of rebates and not even paying IT!!

    hey, Aloka Nath, Bengaluru,

when a common man can shoulder the petrol price of rs. 76.00 a litre & sky rocketing hike in essential products due to italian led congress mismanagement.

I would prefer milk prices should touch rs. 50/-per litre for better indian economy.

KMF is really working for the farmers benefit. If other farmers also get good price for their products then there will be more farmers in our country which will decrease the unemployment. We people think of our salary hike but when prices increase on farm products we feel bad, we don't think even the farmer's income should hike. A farmer can understand a farmer's difficulty very well.
