Mangalore, Dec 8: Women from Mangalore can now have an experience of being a Radio Jockey (RJ) without incurring any expenses. Community Radio Sarang 107.8FM is organizing a week-long training workshop for women from December 12 to 17 at St Aloysius College premises.

The free training programme for women begins at 10 am and is a golden opportunity for Mangalore women to participate and take their first step in the radio broadcast industry. The Training Workshop will dedicate special sessions on producing radio programmes on health programmes for women.

The women joining the workshop will be associated with Community Radio Sarang 107.8FM on a regular basis, for the future, in producing and presenting programmes, and help empower themselves.

Any woman, from Mangalore and its surroundings, interested in producing radio programmes on any topic, specially health and hygiene, is welcome to join the training workshop. They can produce programmes on various topics, issues, talks, interviews, etc. While the week-long workshop is full-time, the ensuing production will be according to their convenience.

The workshop is a part of National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC)’s initiative “Science of Women’s Health and Nutrition” in popularizing science and scientific temper among rural masses, and making science applicable in day-to-day life. The NCSTC is an extension activity of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. In its effort to inculcate scientific temper in promoting women’s health and nutrition and empowering community women, Community Radio Sarang 107.8FM is partnering the DST and NCSTC in this venture.
