Udupi, Dec 8: ‘Birdpex – 2011’, the solo philatelic exhibition by internationally renowned philatelist Daniel Monteiro Brahmavar was inaugurated at SMS community auditorium on Wednesday December 7. Deputy commissioner Dr M T Reju inaugurated the two-day philatelic exhibition that was organized to create a ‘Guinness World Record’.

Monteiro has displayed very rare postage stamps of birds from all over the world.

Mangalore Urban Development Authority commissioner Ajit Kumar Hegde was the chief guest on the occasion.

SMS College principal Professor K Narayanan presided over the programme.

Brahmavar Little Rock Indian School principal Professor Mathew C Nainan, retired principal Dr N A Madhyasta, Mangalore postal department retired post master general S Gopal, Dakshina Kannada Philatelists’ Association president M K Krishnayya, OSC education institution chief secretary Joseph Suvares, and DySP Jayant V Shetty were present on the occasion. Lecturer Baburaj compered the programme. The exhibition will conclude on Thursday December 8.
