Mangalore: Rotary Mangalore Metro to Hold Elocution Competition on Dec 13

Mangalore, Dec 8:  As a part of the Rotary programme to spread awareness about Polio disease and to encourage children’s knowledge about the role of Rotary in Polio eradication Rotary Mangalore Metro will organize an elocution competition at Canara High School here on Tuesday December 13.

The topic of the competition will be ‘Rotary’s Role in Polio Eradication’.

The first prize winner will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 1000 and certificate. The second prize winner will be awarded a cash prize of Rs500 certificate, where as the third prize winner will be awarded certificate.

The competition is high school students, three pupils from each school can participate. The time limit for the elocution competition shall be Three minutes with extra time of one minute.

The programme is aimed at publicizing Rotary’s Role in eradicating Polio worldwide.
Rotary has spent more than 600 million dollars along with generous contributions from
Rotary members and from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to help eradication of Polio world wide.

There has not been a single Polio out-break in India this year, where as a few nations across the world like Pakistan, Afghanistan and China have reported Polio cases.

The progaramme will help to build visibility towards the Polio eradication programme. The winners will have an opportunity to participate in the District level, Regional level and National level elocution competition and may win prizes up to Rs3,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively.
