Mangalore: Nagarika Samiti Ready to Mediate with Naxals

Mangalore, Dec 9: Kuremukh National Park Nagarika Samiti said it is prepared to discharge role as a mediator between the naxals and the government, if the naxals are interested to join the mainstream. The Samiti has been set up Pejavar Mutt Udupi.

Advisor to the Samiti, Nagesh Angeerasa, said in a press conference on Thursday that the Samiti members have respect for the naxals, who have been fighting for the rights of landless villagers and tribals. He requested the naxals to stop losing lives in their armed revolt against the government, and join the mainstream on the lines of naxals in Nepal.

He also requested the government to implement the resettlement plans meant for the surrendered naxals with sincere commitment. He felt that the district administrations should avail of the assistance and services of organizations, institutions and individuals who are devoted to this cause.

Samiti office bearers, Krishna Bhat Malagimane, Sundar Poojary Kedel, Shivappa Malekudi and M Harish were present at the press conference.
